Crystal Lee is the Host of This Is SF on KPIX/CBS and Warriors TV for the Golden State Warriors.
At the end of 2019 our salon was chosen to be on a television show titled ‘This is SF’. The series airs across the nation and showcases different popular businesses in the major cities of the United States. Of course we were elated and immediately began planning what we wanted to showcase for the series. A few days prior to filming we found out that the producers wanted the host of our segment (Crystal) to have something done to her hair that they could capture on film. My boss let me know that she wanted me to style Crystal for the segment and I was excited/anxious/nervous/all of the above! I immediately began conversing with my colleagues about what service to showcase and once we decided I reached out to Crystal to see if she would be comfortable with it.

Being the host of a popular television series, I knew Crystal would be very busy and I wasn’t going to be surprised if she didn’t see my email in time to respond before production day. However, she immediately responded and was so genuine and seemed very excited!

Once the day of filming arrived, when Crystal walked into the salon she was so warm, welcoming and very sweet. I loved that I could feel her genuine interest in meeting the team and getting familiar with us before jumping on camera. She and the camera man had an amazing camaraderie and put us all at ease by telling us what was needed to capture the best footage possible for the show.
Long story short, that’s how I met Crystal!! Since the show, we have kept in contact via social media, and I just love her sweet spirit that emanates through the screen! I can tell how hard Crystal works to be amazing at her job but also how much of herself she dedicates to being a balanced and healthy person. Her calming tone of voice and down to earth personality makes for an amazing host of any show, but also is something that I think all of us can glean from.
What I have personally learned from seeing Crystals social media posts is to do what makes you happy! From what I can tell, Crystal and her husband love to cook. It seems like everyday she posts what they made for dinner and it all always looks so intricate and delicious! I truly admire the strength it takes to be amazing at your career yet still value to personal time you spend with your loved ones doing what you love!
I recently asked Crystal a few questions about how she stays so inspired and what advice she could give to other women to help them stay motivated, here is what she said!
~What inspires you?
“I’m inspired by the belief that we are each given unique gifts that we need to share. If something comes naturally to you, embrace that skill and if you also love it, find a way to build a career around it.”
~What advice would you give women right now to help them feel their best?
“Identify daily habits that help you feel great – whether it’s a workout, a meditation regimen, a fantastic breakfast, or a well-thought out outfit. Build those details in your daily routine and it’ll elevate your lifestyle and confidence so you can tackle any day with peak productivity and gusto.”
~What are your favorite products or brands that keep you feeling beautiful and inspired?
“Brands are interesting because marketers are super savvy at building emotions and value around items and objects that otherwise wouldn’t have it. I am very frugal and tend to “see right through” marketing tricks because I used to run marketing at my former startup when I was working in tech. However, I do love a well-executed marketing campaign especially when it’s for a product or service that is truly excellent, like the Dyson Air Wrap for instance!”
~What made you decide to become an influencer?
“I actually would only call myself that in the sense that every woman is an influencer. Unless you live in a cave under a rock by yourself, everybody influences someone – whether it’s your children, extended family, coworkers, neighbors, or social media followers. I don’t make money on sponsored posts so I’m not an influencer in the traditional sense.”
~ How would you say the world of health and beauty compliment each other?
“Health is the foundation, walls, roof, and structural integrity of a house. Beauty is the landscaping, paint, and design. You’ve got nothing to gussy up if the bones of the home aren’t solid. Health is wealth and always comes first. “
~What are 3 tips you would give to anyone who is feeling down or low about their self esteem and wellbeing ?
“Get off social media. Learn to cook fresh, healthy food or meal-prep if you don’t like to cook. Do at least one thing everyday that makes you happy, without judgement.”
When I think of Crystal I think of someone who lives her life to the fullest and does what makes her happy! I truly admire and appreciate that!
Crystal thank you SO much for being a part of Health is Beauty!
