Le’-Aishah is the creator and Maker of Dreamless Tresses, a company who’s primary focus is to Create Custom made hand sewn or machine made Units and hair pieces.
Le-aishah is one of my closest friends and every day I am so proud of her for starting her own company!
Le-aishah’s journey began back in her middle school days when she was twelve years old! She taught herself how to do hair to get a little extra money and it turned out that she got to be very successful and highly requested at a young age! So successful in fact that she decided to go to beauty school after graduating high school, and her talent skyrocketed from there! Shortly after becoming a licensed Cosmetologist Lea started working at Jovance Salon, thats when she and I became good friends. I remember watching her work and thinking “geez she’s really talented”. Specializing in hair extension services like sew-ins, custom made units and foundation braiding, it only made sense that she would blossom the way she did!
Through the years our friendship began to turn into an unbreakable bond and I got to witness her journey and be inspired by every step. I’ve seen Le-aishah go through some really hard things but she always stayed so strong and kept pushing through it all. One thing I have learned about my friend is that she never quits anything, ever. She follows her passions and the road she is being led to follow. She doesn’t let outside influence stop her and I truly admire that and I always have.
Throughout our friendship we have had different conversations about Le-aishah starting her own company. It has always been a goal of hers but she wanted to wait until the right time. Well, the time finally came and Dreamless Tresses was born! As we all know, starting a business is not simple nor is it a cookie cutter process but if your determined, you will make it happen! Being determined to bring her goals to life, Lea went through the process of doing her research, taking advance trainings, and following the necessary steps needed to make Dreamless Tresses a success. Since the beginning she has seen great success and I know the best is yet to come for her & the company!
I was able to get Le-aishah’s response to a few questions about how she stays so motivated and what she could say to inspire others, let’s see what she said!
~What inspires you?
“I am inspired daily by expression – which is “The process of making known one’s thoughts or feelings”. I believe you do that with your appearance and even more so with your hair especially. Whether you have less hair or have hair coming down your back, with each Hair unit or hairpiece that I create I’d like to think I contribute to the creativity in which expression is formed with your appearance.”
~What advice would you give women right now to help them feel their best?
“Honestly feeling YOUR best doesn’t have anything to do with what I or any one else says your best is. Only you know your effort, and what you give or bring to this world and it’s up to you to do your best. When you know it was your best you can rest assured it illuminated through you. You can have confidence in that , that doesn’t have to be validated by anyone.”
~ What are your favorite products or brands that keep you feeling beautiful and inspired?
“I’m not really a brand person , but if I have to pick something I LOVE LOVE LOVE , it would have to be to smell good , or just smell good things in general! I LOVE bath & body works! Lotions , body scrubs , body sprays ,candles plug ins you name it! My room shelf honestly looks like a single shelf at a department store. And I don’t see a problem LOL! I love my house to smell good if it’s not a plug in , I light a candle in every room , and my house is not big at all ! It’s just I love smells. I guess you can tell.”
~What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?
“I decided to start my own business , because I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for the last seven years. Being in the salon, I offered services to my guests in a unique way. I was able to customize exactly what they needed and design in a way that was unique to each person. I wanted to brand myself to keep my relationship with my clients and still be apart of their beauty experience without physically being behind the chair. Creating unique looks and excitement for my clients one unit a a time.”
~How would you say the world of health and beauty compliment each other?
“I feel your health is important to your being! In the aspect of hair for example, what you put in to your body , your temple, it will manifest outwardly. We know we need fruits, vegetables and proteins to help keep us strong and growing. The same goes for our hair! We have to know what our bodies need to keep up the health and strength of our hair, skin and nails. When you look good you feel good; as well as when you feel healthy in your body and mind, you look good!”
7. What are 3 tips you would give to anyone who is feeling down or low about their self esteem and wellbeing ?
“One tip I would give is change your thinking if its down ,think up! Thinking positive will always lift you up.
If you think you can do it , you CAN by putting actions to that thought
Another tip; you should always surround yourself with people who are motivated to moving forward.
You are your environment, get around those who lift you up, encourage you to do better and people who you can encourage as well!
The last tip I have is that it starts with you! Connect with yourself, get to know yourself, find out what you like not what this industry says you have to be. Love yourself first , know that you are Unique and that there’s nothing wrong with that. Also, know that you have to believe in yourself first or no one else will. It’s okay to be you and feel great about it.”
It all starts in our minds! Like Le-aishah said, if you believe in yourself then thats what counts! We have to know our inner strength and glean from that before anything else!
Lee-Lee, Thank you so much for being a part of Health is Beauty!
