Meko White is a Beauty Expert & Celebrity Makeup Artist, owner of Meko White Artistry Makeup & Hair Service for Film and Special Events
Over the years I have seen Meko’s work and heard her name all over the industry but was never able to put a face to the name that everyone was raving about. Well, a few years ago Meko and I were both nominated for an award by a company called Urban Beauty; She was up for Best Makeup artist & I was up for Hairstylist of the year. Even though we were in such close quarters I still didn’t put a face to the name! Well, about a year ago we ended up working together on a wedding and that is when everything clicked for me, “ohhh YOUR meko?!” is literally what I said (lol). We figured out how much of a circle we had in common that day and I felt a true connection with her like we had known each other for years! A few months after that Meko came to our salon to do the teams makeup for a segment we did and that is when everyone just fell in love with her!
Meko is so professional, skilled, and mellow; a perfect combination for this industry! Each time I’ve worked with her she was able to put the room at ease with her calm personality. Not to mention she is so quick! I have seriously never worked with a makeup artist who is so fast AND efficient at what she does, usually it’s one or the other.
I see Meko’s commitment to her work and she is always striving for growth! She recently launched a monthly beauty subscription on her site which looks SO professional and amazing! I know that where Meko’s business has gotten to did not come easily or without much sacrifice, and I am so inspired by that. The intestinal fortitude that it takes to withstand things that come against your goals and to push past those challenges to better yourself is an admirable attribute to any professional.
I was recently able to get Meko’s take on a few questions regarding how she stays so inspired and uplifted and what advice she could give to others, here’s what she said!
~What inspires you?
“I’m always inspired by the potential of things…be it beauty, business or a simple project. I love seeing things transform from start to finish!”
What advice would you give women right now to help them feel their best?
“Life can be busy and overwhelming. Take one day at a time, enjoy the little things and be good to yourself. You deserve it and owe it to yourself.”
~What are your favorite products or brands that keep you feeling beautiful and inspired?
“There are so many products that I love and enjoy to use, both for myself and my clients. However, more than applying my makeup, I love to cleanse and moisturize my skin. So, my favorite would have to be Rose Oil. (No particular brand, but Trader Joe’s has a nice one)
Fresh clean skin = beautiful, flawless makeup!”
~What made you decide to become an entrepreneur?“Becoming an entrepreneur was a hard move, but the best decision I’ve ever made. The freedom and unlimited creativity that I have as an entrepreneur each day is what made me go into business for myself, and continue each year.”
~How would you say the world of health and beauty compliment each other?
“They definitely go hand-in-hand! When combined, they make for the most gorgeous results and total well being.”
~ What are 3 tips you would give to anyone who is feeling down or low about their self esteem and wellbeing ?
1- Love and take care of yourself, regardless of how you feel. It’s one thing you will never regret.2-Enjoy good music or the calm of nature’s melodies…it’s an easy pick me up!
3-There’s always something to be grateful for.
As Meko said, as important as success is, it is SO important to be good to ourselves and give the attention we need to bettering ourselves mentally & physically!
