I began following Madi a couple months ago on Instagram! I love fitness influencers but especially the positive ones who want to empower others. In Madi’s profile on instagram she has the words ’empowering women’ , and that is what caught my eye.
In the little time I have been virtually a part of Madi’s journey, I can see how much love she has for influencing others to feel their best. The consistent tips and growth of her channels is proof that she is putting in the work it takes to be successful! I truly admire that!

Today we are going to do something a bit different, I am going to let Madi tell her story in her own genuine words. When I recieved her response to my feature questions, I did not want to change a thing! So here we go;
Hi everyone, my name is Madi. I am an Instagram Fitness Influencer and Youtuber. I love to share my fitness journey and love for fitness and health through my social media. My fitness journey began about 2 years ago during my Freshman year of college.
Throughout my Freshman year, I experienced a tremendous amount of obstacles, many of which took a huge toll on my well being. I began to become extremely depressed, eating a ton of junk food, and sleeping until 2 pm every day. When I tell you I gained the Freshman 15… I mean it! I ate top ramen and pizza rolls almost every night, I rarely exercised, and spent any and every bit of extra time I had laying in bed watching Netflix or sleeping. I was lacking motivation and could not find anything that
would help. It wasn’t until my second semester of college that I decided to make a change.

At the time, I had no friends, my roommate and I did not like each other and rarely ever spoke when in the same room. I ended up meeting my best friends through Instagram and decided to start going to the gym with them. After going to the gym consistently, I began to get addicted! I found that using the gym as an outlet to relieve stress was the best solution for me. I started changing my diet, working out consistently and noticed a huge change in both my physical and mental health. Since then, fitness has been one of the biggest positive impacts on my life.

I was able to ask Madi a few questions regarding how she stays so motivated and also what could someone who wanted to begin their fitness journey do to get started, here’s what she said!
~What inspires you to stay motivated?
“I feel that when it comes to staying motivated, I have tried finding different ways to help keep me motivated. Of course, motivation comes and goes and I am not always motivated to wake up
and go to the gym. Self-discipline and progress have definitely helped me when it comes to my fitness journey. I also believe in being organized with literally everything in my life! I love to
write out my time for the gym every day in my planner and write out my workout plan/routine before I even step foot in the gym. When I first began my fitness journey, discipline is really
what got me up and to the gym, on the days I felt like not going. Once I was able to make it a habit and turn it into a lifestyle, I found that taking progress pics every week or so motivated me more than ever and still does to this day. I love looking back 6 months ago and see where my body was and how far I have come, which motivates me, even more, to continue pushing myself to reach my goals and be the best that I can be.”
~What advice would you give women right now to help them feel their best both physically and mentally?
“Mental health has been something that I am working on every single day. When my fitness journey first began, I felt great physically, but still noticed that something was missing. That something was my mental health, it still was not at its best or a healthy stage. This is still something that I struggle with in my everyday life, but have found ways to help improve my overall mental health and happiness. When it comes to feeling your best physically and mentally, I would suggest finding ways to deal with stress. For me, my stress reliever was the gym, lifting weights was a way for me to release all the stress and tension in my body and only focus on me and bettering myself for that entire hour that I spent in the gym. Along with that, take care of your body and value yourself! These are two very important things that I have had to learn over the last year. I eat nutrient meals and drink plenty of water, both of which help me feel better not only physically, but also mentally!”
~What advice would you give anyone who is looking to start a fitness journey but doesn’t know where to begin?
“When it comes to starting a fitness journey, it can be extremely overwhelming. I know for me, I had no idea where to start and spent countless hours researching, “How to start a fitness journey”. To this day, I get hundreds of DM’s asking how to start a fitness journey or where to even begin. For me, a few of the biggest things that helped me when starting my fitness journey were creating a vision board with a list of goals to help me achieve along the way. As the weeks
and months would go by, I would see myself achieving these goals whether it was walking a mile a day, doing 20 jumping jacks a day, or drinking more water. I would see myself achieving these goals and it felt amazing! I also found that starting small was the best way to start! I began by running for 10 minutes a day and increasing my time each week until I could run 2 miles a day! I also started small when it came to weight lifting. I would start with dumbbells until I was ready to move my way up to machines.”
~What made you decide to become a fitness influencer?
“When I first start posted fitness content, my intention was not to become a fitness influencer but to use my own experience and knowledge to help empower and motivate other women. I found
that using my social media to share my voice and express my passion was the best thing for me to do. I began by sharing just a few workout videos here and there on my Instagram stories with no intention to ever have it become apart of my life and what I promote on my social media. After receiving some positive feedback from my followers and peers, I decided to post more about my fitness journey from workout videos, healthy meal ideas, fitness motivation, and
progress pics. I love being a fitness influencer to help other women reach their goals and begin their journey. Sometimes just scrolling through Instagram and seeing an influencer’s post about
motivation is all you really need to help get you through the day and motivate you to get up and achieve your goals, I want to be that person for women around the world.”
~How would you say the world of health and beauty complement each other?
“When it comes to health and beauty, I think they complement each other in the way of
confidence for women. When gaining self-confidence or working on self-esteem, both health and
beauty play a huge role in this! Being active, eating good, and being overall healthy both
psychically and mentally help impact someone’s confidence. Additionally, the beauty world also
can impact one’s confidence. I know for me, wearing makeup and getting ready in the morning
just helps me feel better overall and more productive. Of course, I feel beautiful in my own skin
and think that all women are beautiful without makeup, but sometimes getting ready and putting makeup on can just help boost your confidence a little bit more and help make you feel more productive and happy.“
~What are 3 tips you would give to anyone who is feeling down or low about their self-esteem and wellbeing?
“For anyone feeling down or struggling with low self-esteem, you are not alone! So many of us have struggled with low self-esteem at some point in our lives, even to this day, I still have my days where I don’t feel my best. My advice to you is:-Journal – I learned this from my college roommate and trust me, it helps so much! I noticed such a huge increase in my self-love and self-esteem when I began journaling every morning. Write out three things you love about yourself, three things you would like to work on, and three things that make you happy. It is so rewarding to be able to look back in after a couple of months and see the things that you were able to work on and how much self love and confidence you have gained in that short time.
-Get up and moving – and I’m not saying this just because I am a fitness influencer. Exercise is a great way to increase motivation, practice setting goals, and building confidence! When you break a sweat, it cues the body to release endorphins which are the
feel-good hormones! So try to go outside, get some fresh air, go on a walk, run, or hike and I guarantee that it will make you feel better than you did before you began exercising.-Surround yourself with positive people – When I first began my fitness journey, my confidence and self-esteem were extremely low! It was hard to find myself a set of friends who were positive, had similar goals and encouraged and motivated me. For a while, my only source of positive people were Influencers. I was obsessed with Ashley
Flores, Buffbunny, Whitney Simmons and so many other fitness influencers. These people were my friends, I would watch their youtube videos or read their Instagram posts and feel the encouragement from them and the positive vibes that they would radiate. Whether it is physical people who spread positivity and encourage you or social media influencers, being around positive people and seeing positive vibes every day will help boost your self-esteem and overall happiness.
It is so inspiring to see how people like Madi use their personal experiences to better themselves and help others!
Thank you so much Madi for being a part of Health is Beauty!
